The Skinny on Coconut Oil

Unlike most oils, coconut oil is actually good for you. You can ingest it as well as using it on your body and your hair! When ingested, it helps aid in digestion, balance out our blood sugar levels, reduce cholesterol, as well as tons of other fun stuff.

I converted to cooking with  only coconut oil almost two years ago and haven’t looked back! Once I realized evoo turns into a carcinogen when heated above 80 deg, I knew I had to make a change.

Not only is it amazing for your insides, but it is great for the outside too! For instance, once a week I use a warm coconut oil treatment in my hair. Since coconut oil is a solid at room temperature, you need to run it under hot water to melt it ( I am pretty sure it melts at about 78 degrees). I leave it in over night and, voila! super silky nourished hair. Here are some other uses:

  • an all natural makeup remover
  • eye brow and lash enhancer
  • lip treatment or lip scrub
  • body scrub
  • natural shaving ‘cream’
  • facial moisturizer
  • all natural eczema treatment

Most people and clients of mine I have talked to think this wonderful oil is bad for them! I love convincing them it’s not and to give it a try. I have converted so many people to coconut oil! You just have to educate yourself on it and its amazing the benefits you receive from this super oil.

Have any of you tried/love coconut oil? If so, when did you convert?!
