Summer is a wonderful time full of sun, sand, surf, and great times outdoors. Summer also provides us with some of the best fruits to be had during the year. Besides being tasty, these fruits can also be utilized for your beauty routine. Making your own beauty products is a quick and easy way to pamper yourself while still knowing what’s going on (and in!) your body. Here are three DIY beauty treatments that utilize the summer bounty of fruits!
1. Strawberry and Yogurt Face Mask
All berries are high in antioxidants, which make them perfect candidates to be used as part of your beauty routine! Antioxidants help to fight off the free radicals that we encounter in our day to day routines. This strawberry and yogurt face mask, found on Dr. Granny, is perfect for skin that’s prone to be a bit on the oily side. Combine sweat and sunscreen and you have a sticky and oily mess. This mask will help to combat that while giving you a nice Vitamin C boost!
2. Cantaloupe and Lavender Face Scrub
Cantaloupe is one of my favorite summer fruits. Juicy, sweet, and packed full of Vitamins A and C; it’s the perfect summer treat. Combine cantaloupe with a few other ingredients, however, and you get a wonderful treat for your face! Crunchy Betty shows us how to whip up a simple and effective face scrub using cantaloupe and lavender. There are also recipes for a few other cantaloupe-centered beauty treatments like a creamy cantaloupe mask!
3. Peach and Honey Mask
Over on Pioneer Thinking, there is a fantastic mask recipe that utilizes the peach! The oatmeal component makes for a gentle but effective scrub and the honey is a natural humectant which means that it will help seal in moisture. Peaches are full of alpha-hydroxy acids which help to slough away dead skin cells leaving your skin absolutely glowing. This combination is a gentle, yet effective, mask or scrub that is perfect for normal to dry skin types.
What are some of your favorite summer fruits? Have you incorporated any of them into your beauty routine? What are some of your favorite DIY beauty recipes that utilize grocery store or farmer’s market finds? I would love to hear some of your at-home beauty routines; feel free to leave any comments, questions or links!
