This DIY eye cream recipe uses only two ingredients, and it’s much less expensive – and healthier! – than store-bought creams.
Not too long ago I talked about the best foods for preventing wrinkles. But diet is only one of your weapons against aging skin. Topical eye creams can help the skin around your eyes look younger by moisturizing and providing antioxidants that prevent aging.

Conventional eye creams often contain toxic ingredients that I’m not crazy about smearing onto my skin. I shopped around for an affordable store-bought eye cream and found a few options. I read through dozens of reviews looking for a truly natural eye cream that isn’t tested on animals. This one from J.A.S.O.N. got good reviews and seems pretty middle of the road, price-wise.
Before shelling out $16, though, I thought I’d try making my own DIY eye cream. I’ve been using this recipe for a few weeks now, applying a tiny amount around my eyes before bed and in the morning, and it works great!
DIY Eye Cream Recipe
Don’t get sticker shock when you look at these ingredients! It only takes a small amount of each one to make this eye cream, so they’ll last you ages. The bottle vitamin E oil, for example, contains 90 capsules. For this recipe, you need four capsules.
What you’ll need:
+ small glass container (Here’s how to clean an old glass container to reuse!)
+ 3 tablespoons organic coconut oil
+ 4 vegetarian 400IU vitamin E capsules (the gel kind)
+ knife
+ fork
How to make it:
1. Spoon the coconut oil into your container, then use your knife to puncture the vitamin E capsules. Squeeze the liquid from the capsules into your container, then toss the capsules into your compost bin.
2. Use your fork to whip the vitamin E oil into the coconut oil. As you whip, the coconut oil will become creamier. Just keep on whipping until your two ingredients are well combined, and you have a nice, creamy mixture.
3. To apply, scoop a teeny, tiny bit (the size of a couple of grains of rice) onto your finger, and massage into your under-eye area, temples, and above your eyes before bed. In winter, you can also use this as a day cream.
