On Commenting

Hello there, lovely readers! We’ve had some great discussion around here lately, and all of the writers and I have been enjoying your thoughtful comments. Since the conversation is picking up, I just wanted to mention a couple of things.

Sometimes, comments get caught in moderation. When you get a message that a moderator is approving your comment, that’s me. It might take me a bit to catch up, but I do try to stay on top of things. If you feel like your comment is languishing, shoot me a note through the contact page. I just noticed that our comment system has been marking some things as spam that it shouldn’t be and am working to get that fixed up.

For the most part, things stay pretty polite around here, and I appreciate it. Since we’re on the topic of commenting though, I wanted to encourage you to keep things civil. Folks are much more open to debate and conversation when the discourse is free from name calling and anger. Environmental issues can be emotional, but I think that in the end we all want a lot of the same things.

I think that’s it! Never hesitate to contact me if you have questions about the site or feel like your comment got eaten. We love hearing from you guys around here, and I want to do whatever I can to encourage thoughtful discourse.
