Bottled Up Designs: Stylish Jewelry Made from Vintage Glass
Laura Bergman is a Reclaim Artist. She finds old pieces of glass and turns them into beautiful, wearable art. She takes found glass and transforms it into jewelry… and the results truly are works of art.
Who would have thought that pieces of broken glass could be turned into eco-elegant jewelry.
I love unique finds and when I came across Bottled Up Designs I was fascinated.
Laura is an avid vintage bottle collector so she knows a thing or two about glass. When she came across some old bottle dump areas in the woods near her home she decided to help clean up the environment and do something creative with the antique pieces of glass she found.
With each design created she includes a little history of the glass. Like the Ruby Red glass Laura uses to create necklace pendants and earrings.
Rich deep ruby glass was originally produced by Anchor Hocking during the Great Depression. They made a line of dishes and serving pieces, known as Royal Ruby. Later, Royal Ruby glass was also used to make bottles for Schlitz beer. The old bottles and broken dishes were tossed into the wooded area many years ago and now these pretty ruby pieces of glass poke through the earth and are a hazard to the environment and wildlife.
Laura collects these pieces of broken glass and creates eco-friendly, reclaimed, re-purposed jewelry, breathing new life into something that was discarded.
The ruby red glass is not her only medium, you’ll also find beautiful pieces made from Cobalt blue glass, olive green glass, amber glass, mason jar glass, pink depression glass and other special items that Laura finds like old Blue Willow Dishware.
