Thrift Store Savvy: Wearing Nothing New

thrift store shopping

This super-quick TED talk from Jessi Arrington was so inspiring!

In this 5 minute video, Jessi confesses that she buys every single stitch of clothing that she owns from second hand shops. Check out the talk and some tips on scoring awesome thrift store and vintage finds!

As she mentions in the video, thrifting not only saves you money, but it’s good for the environment. When you shop for clothing at a thrift store, garage sale, or vintage shop, you’re giving a brand new life to a well-loved garment.

I also love that she touches on the mindset that goes along with a thrifted wardrobe. It’s about expressing yourself, and not worrying about what people think. She says, “If you are surrounding yourself with the right people, they will not only get it. They will appreciate it.”

Amen, sister!

  1. When shopping, I always head to the Goodwill. It is my favorite treasure haunt. My tip from the employees there – show up on Sunday after everyone has emptied their closets on Saturday. Lots of goodies! I just scored 16 gorgeous (matching!!) champagne flutes for $15. I hardly ever buy retail.

    • How cool! Which Goodwill do you hit? I tend to stick to the Value Village on Moreland, since it’s so close, but when I lived in Florida I was very loyal to the Goodwill – they seemed to have the best stuff.
