Chemicals in Your Daughter’s Products and Three DIY Recipes To Try Instead

beauty aisle

Bath products with tasty sounding names, and scents, were one of my favorite things to buy as a teenager. Now, with the discovery of toxins in some popular scented products and antibacterial soaps, it may be a good time to steer your teens towards healthier bath and body alternatives. Safe cosmetics are something to fight for and be aware of in our day to day lives.

Teaching your teens early about the dangers of the chemicals they put on their bodies will only empower them to make the right choices when it comes to bath and beauty products. They can still get the young and yummy scents but in an all-natural and safe way. Here are three bath and body products in delicious summer scents that  your teens (or even you) will love to whip up!

Hey there! I'm Maria Raffaelle and I currently live in Chicago, IL. I have a passion for all things eco-friendly in makeup, skincare, haircare, and fashion. The crafter in me loves to put a DIY twist on beauty too! One of my goals is to help women realize that they are all beautiful; no matter their size, shape, or skin. Let's celebrate the beauty in each of us, together!

  1. Love the last recipe, it’s surprisingly necessary on a warm day like today.

I’m not so good at the highly complex home recipes, but the old vodka+water+essential oil homemade spray has been recommended as a general nice body spray, It’s also particularly recommended for those with dreadlocks or difficult hair, as over-washing more than needed can be unhelpful and unbalance the scalp, so applying something soothing or cleansing directly is often thought best.

  2. Great tips and recipes! I make 99% of the products we use around the house, and I have taught my kids the importance of avoiding toxins and chemicals. My kids love to help whip up scrubs, masks, and other beauty concoctions, plus it makes for great family time too. 😉

  3. Thank you for including my Mango Body Butter. My Shea mango body whip is lighter and especially nice in the summer.

My favorite recipes this summer are my Lavender Lemon Balm Bugs Off Spray (that really works!) and the Plaintain Anti Itch Cream. My hubby, the skeptic, uses both of them.

Thanks again for posting my blog. Lynda

  4. After reading your blog post I browsed your website a bit and noticed you aren’t ranking nearly as well in Google as you could be. I possess a handful of blogs myself and I think you should take a look here: You’ll find it’s a very nice tool that can bring you a lot more visitors. Keep up the quality posts
