Fall Decor: An Eco-Friendly Acorn Wreath

Fall Decor: An Eco-Friendly Acorn Wreath

Looking for some fun fall decor? Make an eco-friendly acorn wreath!

In the How To: Create an Eco-Friendly Wreath for Fall post, I shared two ugly wreaths from thrift stores, but only showed how I redid one. After making a recycled acorn banner, I was inspired to make an acorn wreath!

What You Will Need:

1. An old wreath

2. Burlap

3. Ribbon. Use organic ribbon, if you can– it’s more eco-friendly!

4. Scissors

5. Hot glue/hot glue gun

6. Recycled cardboard

7. Recycled paper. I used book pages.

8. A permanent marker

How To Do It:

1. Remove all of the old items from your wreath. Mine had a few ugly white flowers that were easy to take off. If all else fails, flip your wreath over to the back for a clean slate.

2. Make your acorn. Draw the top of the acorn on cardboard and the bottom of the acorn on a book page like so:

3. Hot glue the acorn together. Then, write “welcome” on it or whatever you would like it to say. I also outlined the entire acorn in black. After that, I hot glued it directly to the wreath.

4. Cut your burlap to the length you need to hang your wreath.

5. Cut your ribbon to the same length. Then, hot glue it down the middle of your burlap. The ribbon adds a little color and pizazz!

 6. Wrap the burlap and ribbon piece around the top of the wreath like so:

You’re basically going to hot glue the burlap to itself– creating a pocket for it to hold the wreath.

8. Hang it up! I taped my strip of burlap to the back of my door to hold it in place.

Isn’t it pretty? It’s really simple, but beautiful! You could also customize it by writing your family’s name on the acorn or “Give Thanks” for eco-friendly Thanksgiving decor. How would you customize your wreath?
