Feelgood Quickie: PEOPLE’s Search for Real Beauty at Every Age

realbeauty

Nearly all of us are familiar with PEOPLE magazine’s “World’s Most Beautiful” issues, and this year they are extending that title to real women! Through March 18th, you can submit a photo of yourself (or a friend) for nomination to the Real Beauty at Every Age contest. Voting will take place from April 2-8, with one winner being chosen to represent each age. Then, 4 grand prize winners will be given a trip to New York City for a photo shoot. The big winners will be revealed in PEOPLE’s “World’s Most Beautiful” 2012 issue, which will hit  newsstands April 27. PEOPLE is also keeping the real beauty conversation going by asking people on Twitter what makes a woman truly beautiful, and the answers are amazing!

Recognizing that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages is another step forward in all of us recognizing the beauty that we possess. More importantly, though, true beauty comes from within! Putting this kind of spread in a largely read magazine will only help to further the  conversation on real beauty and help to break down the pre-conceived notions of what beauty means. So, don’t be shy and submit yourself or another woman in your life that you feel exemplifies what it means to be truly beautiful, inside and out!

What do you think of PEOPLE magazine’s contest and spread? Do you feel like it will help in furthering the idea of real beauty? Do you think contests and spreads like this will become more prevalent in other magazines? I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this, feel free to leave any comments!
