Meditation is great for your body, mind, and spirit, but it turns out it also benefits heart health!

We know that beauty is more than skin deep, and every once in a while a study comes out that shows just how powerful taking care of our bodies and minds can be. A recent NIH-funded study showed that transcendental meditation helps reduce the risk of heart attack in at-risk patients.

Meditation didn’t just help these patients a bit, but it actually cut the risk of heart attack and stroke by almost 50 percent!

What is Transcendental Mediation?

Transcendental meditation focuses on finding the “space between your thoughts” to get in touch with your inner energy and creativity at the most basic level. Here’s Deepak Chopra talking a bit more about this meditation technique:

Patients also saw a drop in blood pressure and reported reduced stress. If meditation can achieve all of this for at-risk patients, imagine the good that it can do for the rest of us!
