Don’t know much about shopping sustainable fashion? Join the club.
I’ve been writing on the world of green for going on a decade now, delving deeply into all aspects of health, wellness, and (my specialty) organic beauty. Still, I don’t know, or have not taken the time to learn, much about ethical fashion. It’s time to change that.
A simple Pinterest search guided me toward some people who do know their stuff on the subject of eco clothing and accessories. First comes the mindset. When you choose to use organic beauty you are doing so to avoid toxic chemicals and their harmful effects. Sure, when you wear clothes made of organic materials you are also avoiding these chemicals. A good thing. But there is a bigger picture we need to see here too. And that is purchasing items made with sustainable materials, that are ethically sourced , and fairly made.
This super helpful resource from The Tiny Twig.com covers, in 5 simple steps, getting to know the basics of shopping for sustainable fashion. She compares it to shopping for food. You are either going the traditional route (slow food) or the quick, cheap, easy (fast food). The gist: don’t opt for the McDonald’s of fashion.
