Together we can make a difference and give the gift of sight:
Today I recieved a darling email from Jamie Lim of KAYU, a line of ecological and ethical sunglasses handcrafted from bamboo. She writes us:
“Eliminating preventable blindness is one of the world’s most urgent
problems, so – for every pair of KAYU glasses purchased, we donate enough funds for one sight-restoring surgery in the developing world. One pair of sunglasses = One sight-restoring surgery.“
By partnering with Unite for Sight, KAYU is setting an example for fashionable eyewear lines worldwide. Unite for Sight is a non-profit organization truly dedicated to eliminating preventable blindness.
“80% of blindness is curable or preventable, yet 36 million are needlessly blind. Avoidable blindness is most common in the poorest of the poor, and has far-reaching implications that touch on all aspects of human development – social, economic and quality of life. Eliminating preventable blindness is one of the world’s most urgent problems and one that persists due to a lack of funds.”
For every pair of glasses purchased, KAYU will donate all the funds needed for one sight-restoring surgery in the developing world. Thank you Jamie, for this beautiful commitment! Thank you also for helping us recognize how lucky we all are to read this, because after all, gratitude is what Feel Good Style is all about!
