The new school year got off to a great start around here. But now that we are into our third week, that back to school enthusiasm is beginning to wane in certain areas. One of them is school lunch ideas. Let’s just say the no-frills sandwich has already run its course.
This lack of excitement doesn’t lie only with the person who’s eating the lunch, but the person packing the lunch. Yep, sadly I am already out of fresh lunch ideas. It happens every year. You’d think after many years of this routine, I’d have it down. Not so much.
So I turned to the one place that is always ready to help…Pinterest! Sure enough there are tons of links to healthy lunches. Some moms even dedicate their time to blogging on this subject full time. And boy am I thankful to them right about now. Check our Healthy Kids Pinterest board and see what we’ve pinned to keep our kids happy at lunchtime.
Not only healthy, but fun too. What kid (or adult) wouldn’t love opening up a lunch that is yummy and full of fun stuff? Like salad in a jar, pizza buns, or mac n cheese cups. And the nutrition factor satisfies us moms. I’m also eyeing these PlanetBox lunch containers. Handy and cut down on usage of plastic containers and plastic bags.
Another great place to pick up different school lunch ideas is other kids. My daughter is always telling me about items her friends have in their lunches that she’d like to see in hers. Like taco meat or refried beans in a thermos with cheddar and lettuce on the side to create a taco salad. Or a kiwi sliced in half and served with a spoon. Genius!
Have ideas of your own? We’d love to hear them! Please post comments or links to your own Pinterest boards below.
