Have you gotten back into the school year schedule yet? Adding sports, school activities and homework to your otherwise busy life can seem overwhelming at first. Once you get everything plugged into your calendar, plus a couple of weeks under your belt, things seem to flow pretty smoothly.
One area that seems to plague me throughout the school year is school lunch. My kids like to take their lunches and while I am fine with that because it ensures a healthier lunch (plus I can keep track of how much they are eating), packing them does start to get old. I only have so many ideas for “cold” lunches – sandwiches, soup, salad, wraps is about it in my bag of lunch tricks. If I get tired of packing it, the kids have to get tired of eating it, right?
Pinterest is such a great place to find so many things. From outfit ideas and recipes, to home design projects and green beauty favorites. I also found a great site for school lunches – 171 healthy lunch ideas. And none of them are sandwiches. How about that?! The site is called Easy Lunchboxes and even includes pictures of the lunches. Another thing, it is mostly stuff that is easy to find (you probably have many items in your kitchen already), inexpensive and simple to put together. Definitely going to give these a try.
Another cool aspect, they pack the lunches in enviro-friendlier reusable containers rather than the millions of zip baggies most of us use. Looking for a new lunchbox? Check out my review of the PackIt. We are using them and loving them.
Have any fabulous school lunch ideas of your own? We’d love to hear them…
