Last year the FDA set new regulations on sunscreen safety. Rather than looking only at UVB protection, they focused on broad spectrum protection.

Broad spectrum sunscreens protect against both UVA and UVB rays. What the difference? UVB rays cause sunburn, UVA rays penetrate to deeper layers of skin and are responsible for longer term damage, like premature aging and skin cancer.

So, it is a good thing that FDA stepped up to the plate and set higher guidelines for sunscreens. This also meant that many sunscreens on the market no longer met broad spectrum requirements.

A few weeks ago Love True Natural sent me some samples of True Natural Sunscreens to try. Last year True Natural made the EWG Skin Deep Sunscreens of 2012 list as top rated sunscreens, and these new sunscreens meet the UVA requirements. They are all natural, nontoxic mineral sun protection that you are going to love.

How do I know? I’ve used them, on myself and my kids, and they don’t have any of the negatives of most mineral sunscreens. Sure, mineral is safer and provides better protection than chemical sunscreen. We all know that by now. The catch is; people will not use a sunscreen if they do not like it. And glaring white skin and a thick greasy coating turn most people off. Myself included.

You’ll be happy to know that the True Natural Sunscreens I tried are not sticky or greasy in any way. Plus, TN keeps the nasty whiteness to a minimum in their sunscreens with non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Right on!
