"Just

Each November, a dreaded reality begins to creep up slowly on my face until, before I know it, it’s dictating my morning routing, the kind of make up I use, and the way I stop putting my hair in a pony tail, and leave it down so it will cover as much of my face as possible.

The dreaded reality is dry skin, and I’ve dealt with it every year of my adolescent and adult life, as soon as the cold weather hits, and the heater kicks on.

This year, however, as a newly integrated New Yorker, I decided that I was going to wage war on my dry skin – and I was going to win.

Two months in to some terribly cold weather (not to mention a hurricane, and two blizzards), I haven’t had a dry day yet.

Here’s my winning four step combination:

1. Olive oil

Every time I go back to washing my face with soap, I start having break outs and dry skin again. I’ve found the best solution is to rub oil on my face, and then put a hot, wet washcloth on it until the oil soaks off, and then rinse. If straight up olive oil weirds you out (my ex boyfriend complained that I smelled like a pizza once) here’s olive oil based cleanser you might try.

2. Resveratrol

I started taking one of Tangut’s supplements every morning two weeks ago, and have noticed a significant increase in how moisturized my skin feels. Made with ingredients from the Tibetan Plateau, Resvene contains 98% purest natural trans resveratrol, the only form of natural resveratrol as well as Polygonum Cuspidatum root, Oligo Proanthocyanidin from Chilean Wine and Quercetin.

3. Eminence Green Tea and Guava Fortifying Serum

I replaced lotion with Eminence’s Green Tea and Guava Fortifying Serum around a month ago. Ingredients include: Green tea, Guava juice, honey and Biocomplex™: a booster of antioxidants, vitamins, Coenzyme Q10, and Alpha Lipoic Acid to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve the appearance of skin. My face stays moisturized, but doesn’t feel weighed down or oily as it often has with other lotions.

4. Neem Clay Mask

Lastly, I’ve been using Just Neem‘s clay mask with neem twice a week. The mask is made of French Clay blended with African Neem leaves and natural hydrating oils – a combination intended to draw out skin impurities and promots clear and healthy skin by tightening pores and providing a deep clean.
