I&#8217;m excited about the film and hope you will be too. I had the opportunity to correspond with Ms. Hemingway about the film and the issues behind it (GMO\/GE food). But first, let&#8217;s just do a little GMO 101 . . .<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What are GMOs?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>One of my very favorite writers,\u00a0<a title=\"nancy dreyfus blog\" href=\"http:\/\/jersey-rants.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">Nancy Dreyfus<\/a>, did a guest post for\u00a0<a title=\"the green divas website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thegreendivas.com\" target=\"_blank\">TheGreenDivas.com<\/a>, which is a thorough 101 on GMOs, called\u00a0<a title=\"green divas post on GMOs \" href=\"http:\/\/thegreendivas.com\/2011\/06\/10\/waiter-theres-a-fish-in-my-tomato-a-gmo-story\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Waiter There&#8217;s a Fish in My Tomato<\/em><\/a>. I HIGHLY recommend reading this well-researched and documented article. In the meantime, here&#8217;s her definition of GMO:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>A genetically modified organism (GMO, also called \u201cgenetically engineered\u201d) is a plant, animal or microorganism (eg, bacteria) that is created by means that overcome natural boundaries. I&#8217;m not a scientist, farmer or bioengineer, but I am a foodie. I love food and have been in love with sustainable agriculture concepts<\/p>\n<p>and practices since the 80s.
