The summer Indie Craft Experience (ICE) is this weekend here in Atlanta, and if you’re a local, I highly recommend checking it out! There are all manner of eco-friendly crafters selling jewelry, clothing, accessories, and housewares. On top of the crafty goodness, this ICE features a cool new mini-event: a free art swap!

An art swap can be a public event like the one at the Indie Craft Experience or a party with your friends. The idea is that you bring art that you’re tired of looking at or that doesn’t go with your decor and trade old pieces for new-to-you art. It’s a great way to make sure that any art you don’t want anymore goes to a good home and to adorn your walls with zero impact. Everybody wins!

If you don’t live here in Atlanta but want to plan your own art swap, it’s easy as pie! Think of it as a naked lady party with less nudity. Here’s how to plan an art swap:

That’s really all you need! Once you know the where, when, and how, just invite your friends and get ready to swap! If you’re planning a public art swap, make sure you leave enough time to promote the event. You can make fliers (on recycled paper, of course!), start a Facebook event page, and don’t forget to contact the local paper for some exposure!

{Image Credit: Creative Commons photo by xinem}

An art swap can be a public event like the one at the Indie Craft Experience or a party with your friends.
