"hangover"

Even though we’ve settled back into our daily routines, it’s hard to not still feel that Thanksgiving weekend hangover. Our bellies still seem to be digesting all of the tasty dinner (and leftovers!) and it’s hard to get into gear after having time off. When you don’t feel great on the inside, it can tend to show on the outside. Here are three simple tips that you can try to help and alleviate the symptoms of the Thanksgiving hangover, just in time for Christmas!

1. Morning and Evening Yoga

One of the first things to go when you’re feeling full and sluggish is exercise. It’s a hard push to get yourself into a gym when all you want to do is stay in bed and have another slice of pumpkin pie! Luckily, you can stay in bed a little longer while still being able to complete some great exercises. Whole Living has a great slideshow of two yoga routines that only take 15 minutes each. One is designed for the morning and the other for the evening. The morning routine will get you rejuvenated and ready for the day, while the evening routine will wind you down from a stressful day. Doing these exercises each morning and night will help your energy levels, digestion, and mood!

Next >> Drink Tea

2. Drink Tea

Not just any old tea, mind you, but some tasty blends that are designed for your specific needs. Over on Starwest Botanicals, there are some great herbal tea recipes geared towards helping with digestion and indigestion. Cardamom and anise seed are just some of the herbs in their tasty recipes. If you’re feeling less than enthused about climbing out of bed on the cold mornings, try a cup of this stamina herbal tea from Whole Living. Burdock root, licorice, and ginger come together to create a tasty and invigorating tea blend.

Next >> Sleep!

3. Get Some Sleep

This may seem like an obvious and simple solution, but it’s one that not everyone does. As adults, it’s recommended that we get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night for maximum health and cognitive functions. With the holidays that just passed, and the ones soon approaching, it seems nearly impossible to log those hours each night. The Mayo Clinic gives us some great tips on how to make sure that we get the proper amount of sleep each night. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, we need to make sure that our bodies get the rest that they need!

Do you have any tips and tricks for getting over the Thanksgiving and holiday hangover? Do you have that feeling after an extended holiday full of good food? I would love to hear what some of your solutions are for combating the sluggish feeling from a long holiday. Feel free to leave any questions, comments, or links!
