The chilly fall season is definitely here and not too far behind is it’s freezing sister winter. With the harsher weather here to stay for a little while, it can certainly take a toll on your skin. Drier air conditions and biting wind can cause dry skin all over your face and body. Not to mention the warmer showers we tend to take in the colder months, our skin gets put through the ringer. Instead of opting to by a chemical filled body and face scrub, why not opt to whip up an easy one in your kitchen. Two simple ingredients come together to create a lovely exfoliating, yet moisturizing, scrub.

Next >> Ingredients and Directions Mix both of the ingredients well then slather all over your face and body. If you don’t have any brown sugar on hand you can either use regular sugar, or make your own brown sugar by combining 1 cup of sugar with one tablespoon of molasses. Apply this scrub/mask all over your face and body first thing in the shower and then rinse it off at the end. Letting it sit on your skin for a little bit allows the honey to work a little more magic. The sugar is a wonderful exfoliant while not being too harsh on your skin. If you find that it is a little rough, you can substitute baking soda instead. It will still exfoliate wonderfully, but is perfect for more sensitive skin. The honey is a humectant which means that it will help your skin to retain moisture, which is excellent! It’s also a natural antiseptic so it cleanses your skin at the same time. If you do this routine at night, follow with a sweet almond oil or your favorite moisturizer to lock in all of the moisture.

You will be amazed at how smooth and delightful your skin will feel! I don’t use anything else in the colder months and I have noticed an increased glow and less dryness. Do you have any favorite go-to at home beauty mixes? What is your winter skin care routine like? I would love to hear any of your recipes and suggestions to keep skin lovely and hydrated all winter long!
