Ok, so my cleanse is over. Admittedly, I was more than ready for the last of it to come. It is so much more pleasant to begin a day with a steaming hot cup of coffee than a cold glass of water, herbal capsules, and a glass of sandy drink. Yes, I do not miss that.

To recap, this was a Dr. Natura Colonix cleanse which is a combination of the herbal capsules, powdered herbal drink mix, and lots and lots of water taken daily over the course of 30 days. You can read here my first and second installments while on the program.

Since there really were no majorly apparent effects during the cleanse, I really didn’t expect to notice any after the cleanse was finished. Surprisingly, I do feel different this week than I have over the past month. I am reminded of how tired I was feeling pre-cleanse and I do feel clogged up and weighed down. Granted, I did pick up a cold over the weekend and, with last week being fall break and Halloween, it is difficult to estimate what is from that and what is from no-more-cleansing.

It got me thinking – should I do another course of the cleanse? Am I not “cleaned out” enough yet? You can do the program for a total of 60 days depending on how detoxed you want/need to get. Dr. Natura just suggests a 5 day down time in between the two 30 day rounds.

Currently, I am reviewing some other options. A raw food detox presented itself for the month of November, but I am reluctant to take that on during the cold and windy season. And there is always Kitchari, an Ayurvedic means of doing some light detox.

Gwyneth Paltrow covered the subject of sugar addiction in her latest edition of GOOP. Over-consumption of sugar (don’t know if we need to go with addiction here) is something that a lot of us battle and it does suck the energy from us, not to mention the ill effects it has on our skin. She recommends Eleven Eleven Wellness detox program. A combination of shakes, pills, and light meals that rid the body of impurities, provide nutrients, and stave off sugar cravings. This is one that, apparently, keeps many a celebrity clean and clear.

So, why cleanse at all when I never before even considered it? I liked the idea of a cleanse removing toxins, and making me feel light and wonderful. But I am a novice cleanser, so these may have been unrealistic expectations.

Have you cleansed? Do you do so regularly? What are your opinions/experiences on the subject? We’d love to know!
