\nWell, it\u2019s certainly not the tattoos.\u00a0 Of course!\u00a0 It\u2019s the stunning Lorraine Schwartz emerald drop earrings.\u00a0 You can\u2019t miss them!\u00a0 It\u2019s like a giant sign on her face shouting, \u201cLook here! Look here!\u201d\u00a0 This one accessory alone, as I\u2019m sure you\u2019re well aware, caused a skyrocketing of Google searches and media fanfare.\u00a0 Her drops are what the fashion world refers to as a true statement piece<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 Although it is not a necessary component of every single outfit, it is definitely a central staple to any well-balanced wardrobe and can be used liberally.<\/p>\n

And jewelry is not the only way to create a loud focal point within an ensemble.<\/p>\n

Remember those second hand leather coats and skirts I told you to look for at consignment shops and in your family\u2019s closets in Part I<\/a>?\u00a0 Well, now I\u2019m going to reveal how you can turn those old garbs into knock-\u2018em-dead statement pieces that will be the envy of all of your friends.<\/p>\n

First, instead of looking for standard black or chocolate colored leather pieces, which will undoubtedly demand a higher price tag, hunt down a wild, near-obnoxious color that you absolutely love, but that most people wouldn\u2019t be caught dead in as a skirt or jacket.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure you\u2019ll get a great deal on it if its risqu\u00e9 enough.<\/p>\n

Next, take it to one of the most underrated fashion resources available: a good tailor<\/span><\/strong>.\u00a0 Find yourself a decent seamstress or tailor and take those old colorful leather garments in for a custom upcycle.\u00a0 That leather is valuable<\/span>!\u00a0 Under the craftsmanship of a talented alteration specialist you can turn those outdated garbs into fashionable new accessories.\u00a0 (TIP:\u00a0 Amazing tailors and seamstresses can be found on Craigslist just as easily as the yellow pages…the more \u2018freelance\u2019 and less commercial, the more affordable.)
\nOnce you have your seamstress extraordinaire, turn that old leather into one of the following statement pieces:<\/p>\n

Belt<\/span><\/strong>
\nLeather can be made into thick belts and used to cinch a shapeless jersey or sweater dress.\u00a0 A bright color against a solid black, brown or neutral toned dress can really create a pop.<\/p>\n

Handbag<\/span><\/strong>
\nLeather makes for the highest quality material when it comes to handbags.\u00a0 A handbag can enhance your outfit and serve as a text-book statement piece for multiple ensembles.\u00a0 It can absolutely create the same effect as Angelina\u2019s emerald earrings did.\u00a0 (TIP:\u00a0 If you\u2019re not too keen on working one-on-one with your own tailor, Remade USA does credit its customers $20 toward the purchase of a handbag if you provide your own leather.)<\/p>\n
