Peppermint is one of my favorite flavors. \u00a0I love it combined with chocolate<\/a> (YES) or in my tea. \u00a0I use it for everything, from a delicious homemade lip balm<\/a> scent and flavor to a tummy-settler<\/a>. \u00a0Peppermint naturally soothes the digestive system and liver and\u00a0\u00a0may also help improve concentration and focus. \u00a0Explore the health benefits of peppermint by incorporating a little more into your daily life.<\/p>\n

1) Daily ailments.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The health benefits of using a little bit of peppermint on the regular are varied. \u00a0Because of peppermint’s calming effects (which are also a little numbing), peppermint essential oil is a really easy and natural way to soothe a headache. \u00a0Place a little oil on your fingertip and gently dab along your hairline. \u00a0Try to follow your peppermint treatment with a little physical relaxation (preferably a short nap) or some meditation. \u00a0Drink some peppermint tea for digestive troubles or to soothe congestion. \u00a0Menthol, the active ingredient in peppermint, is commonly used to combat colds.<\/p>\n

2) Delectables.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peppermint is a wonderful addition to snacks <\/a>and drinks. \u00a0It’s sharp, refreshing flavor pairs naturally with chocolate, and with\u00a0milder, sweet flavors as well. \u00a0It is also lovely in your favorite cocktail<\/a>. \u00a0Peppermint itself is actually a natural hybrid of water mint and spearmint.<\/p>\n

3) Body products.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I’ve mentioned before Dr. Bronner’s peppermint liquid castile soap<\/a> is a real pick-me-up<\/a> for me. \u00a0I use it most mornings (it typically doubles as my shampoo) and it really helps me feel perked up and ready for the day. \u00a0Adding peppermint essential oil to your lip balm does double-duty, making your product nice and soothing, while helping to create the illusion of freshened breath. \u00a0You can also add a tiny bit of peppermint essential oil to your body scrub or follow Becky’s tutorial for adding custom scents to your deodorant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While it’s a bit of a seasonal favorite, the health benefits of peppermint are myriad. \u00a0Use a little in your treats, tea, or fave body product today!<\/p>\n
