Remember when you used to easily recognize your loved one\u2019s handwriting? With texts and social media playing a larger and larger role in the way we interact and connect, handwritten letters are becoming a rarer commodity. Holidays, weddings, and funerals seem to be the only time people put pen to paper, mouth to seal, and stamp to envelope. Instead, mailboxes are the housing ground for bills, junk mail, and catalogs while our day-to-day interactions are accented with likes and hashtags.<\/p>\n
Celebrate the handwritten note by making a gallery wall of postcards. It’s a great way to repurpose the ordinary into something unique. \u00a0You can rifle through your own box of letters for postcards that you received from friends on travels, ask your grandparents if they have any old cards that could use a new life, or head to the thrift or antique store. It\u2019s fun to see old black and white postcards, aging and soft with time. Many antique stores have boxes of them, and the postcards don\u2019t cost very much. Find several that appeal to you. You could even plan on framing some with the writing facing forward instead of the scenery if there\u2019s a sentiment that particularly appeals to you.<\/p>\n

Postcard-sized frames can be purchased at thrift stores, stores for the home, in packs at IKEA, or even online from the Dollar Store. If you\u2019d like to choose hues of gray and black as in this gallery wall but can\u2019t find gray frames, use a can of spray paint on half of the frames for an attractive standardized look.<\/p>\n
Affix the postcards to the frame backing with self-adhesive glue dots, available in craft or scrapbooking stores. Then arrange the postcards on a large flat surface before hanging to decide the arrangement. A brick wall-style arrangement is very flattering, especially when the colors are uniform as in these black and white postcards.<\/p>\n
This wall covering is a conversation starter. It draws attention to everyday life, making you pause each time you pass and notice the details in each card. Who knows? \u00a0Maybe it will even encourage you to put your stamps to use outside of the holidays.<\/p>\n
