a health issue they are looking to fix. Unlike going vegan or vegetarian, you don’t hear about people making the switch to gluten-free unless they have to.

So why in the heck did I go and commit myself to a week of gluten-free eating? Especially since bread is one of my fave food groups? Because I was reading an article that said it improved the subject’s sleep and made her less bloated.

Yipee! Less bloat just in time for summer. Some body types are more prone to retaining fluids than others. I may or may not be one of these. Let’s just say that during bikini season I stick pretty close to the fruits and veg. Sometimes even those can give me a little tummy. Frustrating as that is, I have never related it to gluten. Sodium or sugar, yes. Bread and grains, nope.

So, in effort to banish the muffin top before I hit the beach I thought maybe going gluten-free would be worth a look. Yesterday was my first day and it was rough. I had a sweet tooth like crazy and, since I am not much of a meat person, found myself stuck to a mainly fruit/veg diet. My BLT sans bread was, shall we say, underwhelming. It all ended in a late night trail mix binge that I would not recommend to any of you.

Today I crave oatmeal and cinnamon rolls.

Are you gluten-free? If so, is it for medical issues or do you do it to feel great and banish the bloat? And what are your tips for successful, fulfilling gluten-free eating?

Please help a bread-lover out.
