Vegan Shoe Shopping Made Easy

vegan heels

We know that eating meat has a high environmental impact, mainly from raising the cows, so raising cows for leather can’t be much better. We also know that the leather industry is far from humane. So, what’s a gal to do when she wants some cute, cruelty-free shoes?

Buy Vintage

You could opt for tracking down vintage kicks. Sure, they were high impact to produce, but now those materials are out there, and it’s better to maximize them than send them to the landfill, right?

New Vegan Shoes

Sometimes, though, you can’t find what you’re after second hand. If you’re looking for new shoes that are cruelty free, there are a few great options out there!

  • MooShoes in Brooklyn is a wonderland of beautiful, vegan shoe options for men and women. They also have a great selection of vegan belts, bags, jackets and wallets. I’ve shopped with MooShoes online in the past, and they had a quick turnaround and excellent customer service.
  • Zappos actually carries an extensive selection of vegan shoes. Just search the shoe category for “vegetarian” to browse their vegan options.
  • Alternative Outfitters has a super cute selection of vegan shoes and accessories.

Have you guys done any vegan shoe shopping on- or offline? I’d love to hear about your finds in the comments!

  1. I buy a lot of my shoes from Payless Shoe Source. I always make sure to look inside the shoe, as it states the materials in the shoe. I avoid leather and look for the shoes that say ‘Man-made materials’. The majority of Payless shoes are man-made (although some do contain leather, so it’s important to check!), which is why I like going there.

    • Good suggestion! I’ve found some great vegan shoes at DSW, as well. Rocket Dog and Chinese Laundry both make a lot of vegan shoes, though like you mention it’s important to check the materials.
