The New Global Fashion Stars :: Organic Textiles Working Towards Sustainability

Australian fashion company Bird has beautiful organic designs. Shown above are a couple of their styles from last summer and featured below with red are looks for this summer.

Bird Textiles believes:

Global Sustainability will be the driving force changing the way we work in the 21st century. Sustainability meets the needs of present generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Sustainability does not necessarily mean a deacrease in quality of life or product. At Bird we believe it is possible to create beautiful quality products in a responsible and sustainable way. We are not perfect. We are working on reducing our footprint. We are working towards sustainability.

With that said, they are doing a fine job working towards their stated goals. Bird produces all textile products with 100% solar energy manufacturing facilities. They share a beautiful mission and vision as well. Their decision to become a carbon neutral company is admirable. When they say, “We are not perfect. We are working on reducing our footprint. We are working towards sustainability. it demonstrates a humble and modest approach to changing for the better, which makes them a very special rare bird indeed. Their organic prints are worth a look, interchangeable designs make things flexible, there is no doubt this is going to be an organization that will soar to global heights.

While not all of us are preparing our styles for next Summer 2009, Bird is along with many organic textile designers internationally. (Bird Summer 2009 collection highlights shown here above)
