One of my avid readers, my boyfriend’s dad, Dennis, is a scientist. In my opinion, and the opinion of numerous others, a pretty important U.S. scientist. Dennis, extremely committed to his job, isn’t too excited about fashion. I always imagine him in some sort of space suit, surrounded by test tubes in a locked down room with difficult calculations being solved in a matter of minutes in his mind.
Last night, a few of us were speaking of Dennis and how his wife, Paula, told me my fashion blogs are the first and only fashion articles he will ever read. My boyfriend suggested, for his well known father, that I write about eco-friendly lab coats. My imagination was sparked, and today, I searched and rather easily found Studio Scrubs – a company that creates eco-friendly uniforms ranging from doctor’s scrubs to scientist’s lab coats.
Studio Scrubs, designed and manufactured in a sweatshop free studio in Vancouver B.C., believe in making their business as eco-friendly as possible. Their uniforms made from organic cotton and recycled polyester allow men and women in occupational fields that may not always be so chemically free, to dress themselves and surround their body in organic and eco-friendly fabrics. Not only are their uniforms eco-conscious, they are comfortable and fashionable. Studio Scrubs also offers custom embroidery in many colors. From the paper they choose to the recycled boxes they ship in, Studio Scrubs excel in the eco-friendly uniform world.
I must admit, before this article, I was a bit oblivious to organic basics, such as uniforms. Being blinded by my eco-fashion desires I never stopped to think, or hope, that people with extremely influential occupations were able to wear sustainable garments each day. I’m extremely grateful that the doctor helping his patient and the scientist who works an insane amount of hours, in order to better the life of people on this planet, have the option -and hopefully prefer- to wear a uniform that also betters the earth.
