When you’re thinking about trying a new product, label reading can be confusing. Some ingredients that sound scary aren’t, and some that sound completely innocent turn out to be toxic or environmentally unfriendly. What’s a gal to do?
That’s where the Skin Deep database comes in. They list thousands of beauty products from hundreds of companies and rate them on toxicity. You can also use the database to search for individual ingredients.
If standing in the cosmetics aisle looking for an eco-friendly, healthy product isn’t your cup of tea, you can even do more generic searches and get to know products that are healthy. For example, if you search for “eyeshadow,” you’ll see all of the eyeshadows in their database with rankings. With a quick click, you can sort the data so the lowest-ranked items, which are safest, come up to the top.
