To Peel or Not to Peel

Facial Peel Memphis-and-53rd

Chemical peels aside, have you considered a facial peel? Today’s peels are often made with fruit acids and natural exfoliants. But are they any safer than the synthetic stuff?

A facial peel is designed to remove the top layers of skin, leaving behind fresher, smoother skin. While it does a good job of this, what it’s doing in the long run could be more detrimental than beneficial.

Facial peels cause inflammation and, as we’ve seen, inflammation causes other problems. Premature aging, breakouts, and scarring are all skin issues associated with inflammation.

If you are looking for a clean slate type skin treatment, think gentle exfoliation. Sure, skin tends to look dull when dead skin cells build up. This can also lead to congestion. Regular exfoliation is key to healthy skin, just be sure it is done in a safe manner with mild products.

One of my favorite ways to pamper skin is with this 3 step organic facial I designed using some of my favorite natural skincare products. It not only exfoliates, but immediately soothes and hydrates, making sure skin is pampered and protected. Try it, you’ll love it.
