NYT says “Green Goddess”

ecolisttimes2.jpgThe New York Times reviews eco-beauty in a special feature called Green Goddess! They have gone out of their way to do some “off the grid” style research this season. Now the online mag has decided to offer some great spa finds they call Clean Breaks featuring:

  1. The Organic Pharmacy, London– Offers a wide range of herbal, homeopathic remedies, as well as in-house treatments. Rose Crystal Lymphatic Facial, starts with lavender-infused breathing exercises.
  2. Natural Body Spa and Shoppe, Southern and mid-Atlantic states– At one of the first green chains in America, now you can drop off your old BlackBerry for recycling before enjoying a treatment!

To add to the temptations, last season I noticed Style Will Save Us highlighted a few special reviews on eco-retreats, such as:

  1. Tauana Beach Resort, Corumbau beach, Brazil: As well as the organic kitchen garden she created, Tauana’s owner Ana Catarina planted 30,000 trees when she built the hotel, installed an onsite water treatment system to avoid soil contamination, incorporated Piacava into the buildings which is indigenous to the area and designed folding walls which let in the sea breeze to avoid the need for fans.
  2. URBN Shanghai City Hotel, China: China’s first carbon neutral luxury hotel. The brand new 26 room renovated factory is located in Shanghai’s historic Old Town…

These examples serve as reminders that when we take time to retreat it can be as healthy for the planet as it is for our senses. Next up, I’m searching for those eco-retreats that partner up to include the air travel offsets in their eco-package offerings.
