Green Your Summer Routine: Stay Cool

It’s hot!  Even for those of us who absolutely love summer. Who say the heat never bugs ’em.  Who go outside to warm up from the air conditioning.  It. Is. Hot.

So, everyone is trying to stay cool.  Every time I hear those words it takes me back to yearbook signatures of junior high — stay cool, don’t change, stay sweet… Anyway, continuing with our summer series Green Your Summer Routine

Drinking lots of water, eating juicy, ripe fruits and avoiding too much sun or alcohol will help keep your cool.  Did you also know that certain beauty products can help to beat the heat?

If you follow Ayurveda you know that certain foods and oils are cooling and good for hot temperaments.  They are also good for keeping you chill in the heat of summer.  Coconut oil, aloe vera gel, chamomile, and lavender all help to soothe and cool heated skin  — great for treating rashes, sunburn, heat bumps and acne.

Try these all natural coolers for summer skin:

RMS Raw Coconut Cream —  This pure coconut cream is perfect for light moisturizing or even cleansing.  It may seem weird to use an oily cleanser in summer, but it is great at removing dirt, oil and makeup or sunscreen.  It also feels really soothing on skin at the end of a day spent in the sun and heat.

Pratima Skincare Cucumber Aqua Gel – Apply to skin daily after using your favorite facial oil to cool, hydrate and calm.

Dr. Alkaitis Organic Purifying Facial Cleanser – Made with coconut and aloe this cleanser gets skin deep-down clean gently.

SkinnySkinny Organic Lavender & Eucalyptus Body Scrub – Use this yummy body scrub to reveal fresh, healthy skin.

Acure Organics Body Lotion Lavender + Lotus Flower — Follow up your scrub with a cooling hit of this pampering body lotion.

Chamomile Tea Toner – Make this toner right in your own kitchen.  Simply brew a cup of chamomile tea, let cool and store in the fridge.  Perfect skin pick-me-up.  Feels great on tired eyes too.
