Facial Care Essentials for Spring

Once spring hits you feel that all of the skin ailments of winter should be history.  Why does it seem my skin is drier than ever?

Do you feel this way too?  Parched hands, shins, feet, even face. Skin is resilient, but winter takes a big toll.  And let’s face it, springtime temps can be all over the place.  Our poor skin doesn’t know how to react.

First things first, let’s address the face.  Your cream or oil cleanser may seem too heavy right now, but your skin still needs rich hydration to compensate for dry nights and windy days.  Whatever to do?

I have my eye on something new.  While shopping around on my favorite natural beauty sites, I came across this new product – Wedderspoon 100% Raw Organic Manuka Honey Active 16+.  Yes, it is straight up honey, but not just any ol’ honey.  “Active” here means higher antibacterial and live enzyme content.  We’ve talked about honey’s benefits to skin here before.  I like to use it in facial masks for super softening.  Definitely adding this product to my shopping list.

Next, while adequate moisture is always important, your super rich cream may be too heavy right now.  A facial oil used in combination with a lighter daily moisturizer will boost hydration without being too heavy.  Try patting oil onto your dry areas after applying your daily moisturizer.  Following are some good ones to try:

Acure Organics 100% Pure Wildcrafted Marula Oil – This affordable oil is light and perfect for dry skin.

Ila Face Oil for Glowing Radiance – If you don’t mind spending a little more, this one is luxe and makes skin feel great.  One of my favorites!

Acure Organics Day Cream – Created for normal to dry skin types, no product from this line is heavy.  Great for this time of year.

Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Organic Sensitive Skin Cream – I also love this super gentle moisturizer.  Feels like it is pampering worn out skin.

Try these in-between-seasons facial skin savers to get your skin spring ready.  I’ll be back this week with tips for hands, feet, and body too. [Image by Dimacius at Flickr.com, Creative Commons]
