Eco-Boutique Spotlight + Exclusive Reader Discount :: Spirit Beauty Lounge

Recently featured on MSNBC, model and student of art & cosmetology, Spirit Demerson has long been concerned about the environment and interested in beauty.  She used to concoct her own natural fragrances, lotions & scrubs in her kitchen and she’s been the “go-to” beauty girl in her circle of friends, family & colleagues for years.  Frusterated about having to send them in a dozen different directions, she decided to open up shop online.  After years of research (and obsession) her dream of opening her very own “beauty lounge” came to fruition last month.

You’ll find handpicked high-end organic and/or natural lines like Suzanne aux baines, ila, Patyka, NVEY ECO and Tsi-La as well as eco-friendly jewelry.  All products are held to a “3 P’s” requirements: performance, potency/purity & packaging

You can shop by product or skin type, by brand or Editor’s Pick.  They also have Live Chat on the site so you can ask questions and get recommendations and answers on the spot.  They’re also members of 1% For The Planet, they are a Carbon Fund partner, their facilities are powered by 100% Green-e certified renewable wind & hydro energy and they use the highest possible post-consumer recycled content and/or biodegradable packaging.  At checkout you also have the option of adding a small offsets  fee to help with the carbon emissions associated with shipping your goods.

A couple of my faves from SBL are:

Organic Apoteke Body Hydrate Oil:

As the temperature drops, my awareness of dry skin rises and I’m once again on the hunt for hydrating products to carry me through the months ahead.  I’m using this right now after showering and I like the convenient spray bottle which dispenses a perfect amount and ensures no spillage.  The mild citrus aroma is calming and fresh and this light oil sinks in quickly.  Although I prefer glass bottles, I make the exception for these as their boxes, bottles and labels are all biodegradable.

skinnyskinny Basil Mint Shaving Soap:

I absolutely LOVE the smell and taste of basil and this soap bar smells like the real deal (that’s because it is!) mixed with a hint of mint.  And the best part?  It totally works!  Produces a nice rich foam for your razor to glide over top and I don’t experience any razor burn whatsoever.  I’ve been using the Organic Apoteke Body Oil on my legs right after shaving without any irritation at all.  These two products make a great combination.

I also like the Neem, Tea Tree & Lavender soap and have been using it as my body wash.  Not only are all their soaps at least 96% organic, I love that skinnyskinny is a 100% carbon-neutral company and uses 100% recycled, reclaimed, sustainable and biodegradable materials for all of our packaging.

Today through November 15th, Spirit Beauty Lounge is offering our readers 20% off anything on their site when you use promo code “FGS1011”.  You’ll always get free shipping over $100, they have a 30-day return policy and they hand-pick free samples to send with every order.
