It is difficult to know what we can do to help our troops overseas. Well, Sara Damelio (founder of Skincando organic skincare line) has come up with a unique idea.
After receiving a letter from a serviceman stationed in Iraq in 2005 requesting more of the Combat-Ready Balm his wife had sent, Operation Sand Flea was born. The troops were battling sand fleas, sunburn and dry skin and Combat Ready Balm worked like “magic”.
This thick and rich, yet non-greasy, Combat Ready Balm works to soothe everything from shaving burn to bug bites and diaper rash. It is packed with organic plant oils and other natural ingredients with not a trace of anything synthetic. Sara sent me a jar of the balm and we immediately put it to the test.
My son had very dry skin on his hands and was developing a rash after a long winter of not using hand cream (boys will be boys). I suggested he try the Combat Ready Balm. The military-style label appealed to him, so he slathered some on his sore mits. Almost immediately his skin was soothed and healed.
On another note: my husband asked “What is Combat Ready Balm?” Since I have lots of beauty products on my desk most of the time that he never notices, I get the feeling this product’s packaging is guy-friendly. I must say, I like it too.
Sara also sent along Combat Ready Lip Balm that I have stowed away for my own use. It is peppermint and I just have a thing for minty lip balm. So fresh and tingly. This balm goes on smooth and lasts a long time. And yes, same cool packaging.
Back to Operation Sand Flea – For each donation of $12.50 a jar of Combat Ready Balm and a note is sent to troops overseas. So far more than 5,000 packages have been sent.
