1. Hello, Aloe!
In almost every Caribbean and Central American country I have visited there are fresh aloe vera plants. These plants make for a nice, quick, and free(!) natural skin remedy after those long days in the hot sun. You can also often find aloe products in the store, but beware! Many of them contain artificial colors and less-than-natural ingredients. The plant is definitely best.
Aloe vera has been used as a skin treatment for hundreds of years, and of all the benefits we know of aloe today, skin care is possibly the most sought after remedy.
By rubbing fresh aloe vera into your skin you are hydrating any cracked, dry, or burnt skin and helping to restore its natural softness in a remarkably gentle and non-abrasive way. Aloe vera also helps to alleviate any pain caused by overexposure to sun, and the natural oxidizing compounds found in aloe vera can help your skin regenerate and ward off infection.
So if your skin is a little burnt, sore, and tight just break off a piece of the plant and let Mother Nature work her magic!
