2. The Grass

The plastic, un-recycleable green grass used to decorate the basket may look nice but in the end is just a waste. There are many alternatives to explore! You can easily grown your own Easter grasses for baskets. Make and Takes gives us some great directions on growing your own grasses inside egg cartons. Shredding newspaper or other pieces of scrap paper will not only lighten your recycling pile it will also make for a more interesting basket. Another simple and unique idea is to scour your thrift store, or your own craft stash, for green or different colored yarns. Un-wind or unravel them and fill your baskets. The yarn can easily be reused!
