Spotted: Update an Old Necklace with Nail Polish

painted necklce

It seems like every year there are new hip colors and color combinations, but buying all new accessories to keep up with that ever-changing palette is expensive and not so hot for the planet. Instead of hitting the big box store for a new necklace in wine tones for fall, you can grab a couple of bottles of nail polish and update something that’s already in your jewelry box!

When I showed my sister, Amanda, this project from Deb Shops, she said:

“No way!  I did that in varying shades of orange and pink on a crystal necklace and it came out really cute. Best part is you can toss it in some polish remover and take the polish off and have a new necklace!”

Brilliant! The shades of pink and orange she’s talking about were from a manicure we tried on me when I visited her over the summer. We started with pale pink and worked our way, finger-by-finger, to bright orange for a trendy ombre effect. How fun would that be on a statement necklace?

This project is pretty straightforward, and you can check out Deb Shops for more deets and photos of her beautiful painted necklace!
