Spotted: Convertible Organic Dress

organic dress

One common complaint about buying organic clothing is that it tends to be a lot more expensive. That definitely tends to be true, and that’s why I’m loving this convertible organic dress from Simone’s Rose Boutique!

You can wear the dress several different ways, which means you’re getting three garments in one! At $79, that’s not too shabby for a casual dress and two skirts! It works out to around $26 per garment, which definitely competes with big box store prices.

Designer Michelle Pyxus sews all of the garments in her shop herself, and this dress is made out of an organic cotton and soy french terry blend. French terry isn’t like a terry cloth towel. It’s more like a super heavy jersey, kind of like sweatshirt material.

When you buy a handmade dress like this, you’re doing more than just choosing a garment that’s more eco-friendly. You’re opting out of sweatshop labor and supporting an artist who’s supporting herself. What could feel better than that?

I love that you can dress this garment up or down by pairing it with different tops, shoes, and accessories. Who needs a closet full of cheap, fast fashion garments when you can have higher-quality, choice pieces like this one?
