She-Bible: Eco-Friendly Clothing Worthy of Praise

She-Bible's Faithfull Pantsuit[social_buttons]

Not long after working for Eco-Tique, an eco-friendly fashion boutique in St. Paul, Minnesota, I began rummaging the internet for fantastic eco-friendly designers that struck my fancy. About a day or so into my search I came across She-Bible; my heart stopped. I had found my organic soul-mate. All of us ladies at Eco-Tique went a bit gaga for She-Bible and immediately began selling the spring garments at the store.

Since finding She-Bible I’ve had my eye on quite a few items, pining over them each day with or without drool running down my chin, a couple of them being The Faithfull Pantsuit and The Bandit Scarf. I’m pleased to announce, for my birthday, I purchased both these items and am overflowing with bliss. Everything I’ve bought from She-Bible (six items- I like to keep track of my She-Bible closet count) has exceeded my expectations, always modern, artistic, unique and inspiring.

She-Bible Three Spring '09 Dresses One bonus of my job is having contact with designers. I have had the pleasure of talking to Deidre O’Boyle, one of the two designers for She-Bible, numerous times over the phone and email. Deirdre is one of the sweetest designers I have had the honor of talking to and remains humble, even though, in her situation (co-owning a rock star organic clothing line) I may not find myself with such humility. That attribute, being admirable, continues to ignite my desire to support small/local companies.

Starting as a hand-made screen printing press from their kitchen, Stacy Rodgers and Deirdre, friends since high school, created She-Bible in 2001. The women, this year, opened their first brick and mortar store in San Francisco. When first starting the company, the pair focused on not using sweatshops since Deirdre worked at Sweatshop Watch, policing the garment industries standards. She-Bible is now constructed in two factories using fair labor practices. The fabric is dyed with low impact dyes in Sacramento using safe practices and conscious use of water.

Although some of the fabric used is not organic it is all made with the above practices and dyes. The upcoming fall line, that I’ve had a delicious sneak peek of, is the most organic season yet. Most garments are made from organic cotton and hemp and as always, I find myself dreaming about my closet overflowing with She-Bible goodies.

Make sure to check out She-Bible’s huge sale! I know my next purchase will be soon!
