30 Days of Yoga: Still working on that whole om thing.
Getting back into yoga or just plain getting started can feel so daunting, and this free 30 Days of Yoga series has really helped me get my own practice back on track. I’m so excited to share it with you!
Last summer I wrote about how I was trying to jump back on that yoga train. With a heavy freelance schedule and only part time child care for my busy toddler, this has not been easy. Until a couple of weeks ago, I’ll be honest: it wasn’t happening at all. Until I discovered this 30 Days of Yoga series.

The series is from the amazing Adriene Mishler, who films the videos from her home in Austin, Texas. I use her videos a lot when I’m writing about yoga, because she does a great job of breaking down specific poses in a relatable way. Her 30 Days of Yoga series takes that same, accessible energy and applies it to a 30 day program to jump start your yoga practice.
I’m the work-at-home mom who has to sneak in yoga between freelance assignments while my kid is taking his afternoon nap. And 30 Days of Yoga is perfect for that. Each day’s practice ranges from 12 to 35 minutes. That’s much easier to sneak in during baby nap time than a 45 to 60 minute practice.
For someone like me who has taken around 15 days to get to Day 10 of the series, Adriene’s attitude is perfect. She’s all about doing what you can, and doing what feels good. Sometimes I have to skip a day because I’m just too exhausted or my son decides that napping is for suckers. The laid back feel to these videos makes me feel like that’s okay.
The video at the top of the page is the intro to 30 Days of Yoga, and it’s a great place to start. Or, you can just jump in to Day One! I didn’t know that there was an intro video when I started, and even after a long time away from yoga, it was easy as pie to follow along. She even tells you when you need to look at the screen, so you don’t have to worry about missing anything.
