Stella McCartney teams up with Adidas to create the Stellasport vegan workout line.
You may know British designer Stella McCartney for her commitment to creating beautiful, vegan women’s wear. What you may not know is that she recently teamed up with Adidas to create Stellasport, a collection of oh-so-stylish workout gear that’s as trendy, versatile, and animal friendly as her label’s standard ready-to-wear.
Adidas is just starting to work on its own commitment to sustainable clothing, and this collaboration is right in line with their recent commitment to detox their own clothes.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg Business, McCartney discussed her approach to fashion manufacturing, namely, the brand’s stance on animal friendly practices. “There are over 50 million animals a year killed in the name of fashion,” McCartney said. So now, the designer is using her namesake label to “challenge the system a little bit.”
McCartney is no stranger to collaborations- she’s worked with Adidas before- but this time around, the partnership has yielded a more refined product – and at a more competitive price! The lower price point was also one of the goals of this collection, which was made to target a younger audience with a wider distribution.
Another great thing about this collection is that it’s very sport-to-street. Meaning, you won’t look like a slob if you go from the gym to the grocery store. I love any gym clothes that work overtime as stylish, comfortable street wear.
