Good Clean Love: Get Down, Not Dirty

Good Clean Love makes personal lubricants without harmful ingredients. Because you don’t want harmful chemicals on your lady- and man-parts.

We love clean, healthy products for our body. But did you know that most personal care products contain dozens of harmful ingredients– and that these ingredients are barely regulated? It’s scary stuff, and that’s why it’s important to buy natural body care from companies you trust.

Fortunately, it has become easier than ever to find healthy skin and hair products (or heck, even make your own  homemade body care!). Even traditional grocery stores and big box stores have begun to stock healthier shampoos and body care. But one of the items that is sometimes overlooked is the world of personal lubricants. Lube is just not talked about that often (don’t worry– there’s no shame), but there are just a few brands on the market, so they might be hard to find in your neighborhood. And maybe you’ve just never thought about looking for a more natural lube. Whether you are looking for a new lube or if you’ve never tried one but looking for some ways to get yourself some good clean love, we’ve got good news: healthy, clean lube is available! Vibrant Wellness Journal was recently sent some Good Clean Love lubricant and they’ve got some good stuff to say.

As their name suggests, Good Clean Love lubricant features healthy, clean ingredients: aloe vera gel, non-GMO xanthan gum, agar (a seaweed), potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, citric acid and natural flavors. All the ingredients check out with the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database, with potassium sorbate featuring as the only low risk ingredients; other ingredients are all no risk! The product itself is not listed in the database, but with all the ingredients passing, their product is a WIN!

Good Clean Love

Clean ingredients are important in all our body care, but especially those that come in contact with our most intimate body parts. The mucus membranes in the vagina and anus are especially sensitive, and we should avoid using dangerous ingredients like parabens and polyquarternium-15 (ewww, right?). Wendy Stargr, the founder of Good Clean Love lubricant says, “Over 80% of the US population has used lubricant at some point. Pay attention to the ingredients in your lubricant. Much of the intimacy product market is still dominated by petrochemical- based products with carcinogenic preservative systems. Respect the most sensitive tissue in your body with natural and organic ingredients.” Some quick research shows that other brands on the market contain parabens, known endocrine disruptors, and other nasties rated as moderate to high danger from the EWG database. Keep those chemicals out of your body! To see or share an infographic about the dangers of regular lubes, check out this post on Green Living Ideas.

Good Clean Love comes in a few different flavors (almost naked, cinnamon vanilla and lavender). I don’t love the lavender, which is a smell I associate with bath gel and candles, but I think the cinnamon vanilla would be lovely. The Almost Naked has a vanilla-ish smell that’s really subtle and clean. Overall, I am pretty happy with the product. The testimonials on the site are really amazing, so if you are interested in purchasing some, check out these links too to get a better perspective! And have fun practicing!
