To Do Right Now: Tell Adidas to #detox its Products

Greenpeace is asking Adidas to #detox its products, and you can help with just a tweet today.

I am an Adidas fan from way back. When I was in middle and high school, there was nothing hipper than those three, equally spaced stripes. Since high school, though, I’ve learned a lot about the garment industry, and brands like Adidas have gone from faves into the no category. Big brands like this tend to use a lot of unnecessary toxic chemicals in their products, and for my own health, I opt out.

Toxins in clothing are the bad news. The good news is, the garment industry is slowly starting to see the light thanks to consumer pressure and Greenpeace’s #detox campaign. Brands like H&M and Marks & Spencer are already on board. Now, Greenpeace is looking to Adidas to go all in for its customers’ health.

Go #allin for #detox

Adidas has been using the hashtag #allin to encourage followers and athletes to put their all into their passions. Greenpeace is turning that on its head, saying that Greenpeace needs to go all in and commit to protecting consumers by getting toxins out of its products.

Want to help? It’s easy!

Greenpeace needs Adidas to see that we care about what’s in our clothing. Our voices matter. Send a tweet today with the hashtags #allin and #detox to tell them that you stand with Greenpeace. Here are some sample tweets that you can use to get involved:

  • The whole world is watching, @adidas. #Detox, #allin or nothing. http://act.gp/1m8xTGS
  • It’s now or never, @adidas. #allin or nothing for #Detox. www.detoxfootball.org
  • Time to stop the toxic nightmare, @adidas. #Detox, #allin or nothing. http://act.gp/1m8xTGS
  • We can’t leave our future to chance, @adidas. #Detox, #allin or nothing. www.detoxfootball.org

#Detox: A Great First Step

Of course, toxins aren’t my only worry with Adidas or other big store brands. They need more transparency about how they produce their clothing, too. I also don’t support their choice to use animal products in their clothing and shoes. The #detox campaign is only a start, but it’s a great place to begin. Let’s start now!
