Review: Gabriel Cosmetics Nail Polish Remover Pads

Gabriel Cosmetics Nail Polish Remover Pads

Okay, so you’ve scrupulously amassed nail polishes that are “five free.”  (That means they don’t include formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toulene, dibutyl phthalate, or camphor).  While you were at it, you made sure to avoid brands that test on animals.  Then the time comes when you’re ready to remove that color from your nails, and you’re left wondering what product to grab.

When I was at a natural foods store a while back, I spied these nail polish remover pads in a small, purse-sized container from Gabriel Cosmetics for about $6.  Gabriel is a vegan makeup brand that I’ve used many times over the years for lipsticks, shadows, foundation, and more.  However, I’d never tried their nail polish remover pads.  I noticed right away that their nail polish remover is acetone free, and since I’m sensitive to acetone, that was a big draw.

Inside the container, there are 20 thin circles soaked with nail polish remover.  The pads have a light, citrus scent that isn’t overpowering.  I was surprised that at first touch, the paper-like pads seemed almost dry.  I was worried that I’d gotten an old batch, but I needn’t have concerned myself.  As soon as I started pressing a pad into my polished nails the liquid trapped inside of the pads became apparent.  For regular nail polish, just one pad was all I needed to remove polish from all ten fingers.  For grittier glitter polish, two pads were enough.

The conditioning formula used in the nail polish remover leaves the nails feeling soft and smooth, not dry like some harsher nail polish removers.  After I was done removing the polish, I simply washed my hands to remove any lingering oily feeling.

I still have plenty of remover pads left in the container, but when I run out, I would definitely buy them again.  Their products can be found on their website, gabrielcosmeticsinc.com, at natural food stores, and in vegan boutiques throughout the world.
