5 DIY Scarf Tutorials for Fall

5 DIY Scarf Tutorials

Are you ready for fall? We’ve got some DIY scarf tutorials to get your wardrobe blustery weather-ready!

Fall is here! Don’t you love fall fashion? Cute boots, cozy sweaters, and comfy scarves are some of my favorite things, and I love getting my craft on to beef up my fall wardrobe in recycled style. Sure, you could go to the big box store and buy a scarf, but when you make your own upcycled scarf, you’re creating a totally unique wardrobe piece. You’re also opting out of the waste and exploitative labor that’s involved in making so many big box accessories.

Even a beginning seamstress can do these easy DIY scarf tutorials, so get your sewing machine or needle and thread, and let’s get crafty!

DIY Scarf Tutorials

1. Neckerchief T-Shirt Scarf

This is a more twee take on the usual t-shirt scarf. If you don’t have any old tees in your stash, hit the thrift store for something that would look better cut up than worn as-is.

2. Infinity Scarf

Did you accidentally shrink your favorite sweater? Don’t throw it out! What you actually did was called “felting,” and you can use that felted sweater to make a super cute infinity scarf.

3. Turn a Scarf into an Infinity Scarf

Never tie a scarf again. Hit the thrift store or your closet for a reclaimed scarf, and follow the easy instructions to fold and stitch it into a hip infinity scarf.

4. Sweater Scarf

Got a few old sweaters handy? Check out this video on how to turn it into a new-to-you scarf:

5. Sweater Sleeve Cowl

A lot of sweater crafts leave the sleeves unused. Next time you have a sweater sleeve left over from a craft project, grab yourself a vintage button and turn it into a cozy cowl.
