How To: Create an Eco-Friendly Wreath for Fall

How To: Create an Eco-Friendly Wreath for Fall

It might be a little early, but I’m ready to decorate for fall. To officially kick off this particular season of crafting, I created a beautiful eco-friendly wreath!

What You Will Need:

1. An old wreath to redo. I found two old (and kind of hideous) wreaths at the thrift store.

2. Sheet music or other recycled paper

3. Tape

4. Scissors

5. Two buttons

6. Hot glue/hot glue gun

7. A ruler

8. A permanent marker

9. Twine. If you can, use hemp twine.

How To Do It:

1. Remove all of the lovely items on your old wreath. Mine had a lot of glue left on the front, so I simply flipped the wreath over to the back. It was the perfect base for my new wreath.

2. Make the paper flowers by following the instructions on thisĀ Recycled Paper Mother’s Day Brooch tutorial— just don’t add a brooch pin to the back of the flower.

3. Then, hot glue the flowers to your wreath.

4. To create the mini pennant banner, cut a piece of twine the length of your wreath.

5. Use your ruler and draw 4 triangles that will fit across the twine. The triangles should look something like this:

(Make sure you leave an extra piece at the top to attach it to the twine.)

6. With a permanent marker, write each letter of “fall” on the triangles.

7. Using your hot glue gun, attach the triangles to the twine but gluing them like so:

8. Tie or hot glue the banner to your wreath.

Now you have a beautiful and eco-friendly wreath for your home! This could also be personalized– instead of “fall,” write “welcome,” or your family’s last name. There are so many possibilities!
