It’s Spring! So Why Do You Feel So Awful?

Gir lwith Headache by rachel titiriga

Springtime always feels so fresh, bright and good.  So why do we often feel like such crud once the green season rolls around?

Pollen and mold in the air can get allergies started, and spring colds often result in sinus infection.  Yuck!  Get yourself back on track fast with these simple natural tips.

We’ve all had sinus infections here at our house this spring.  Obviously, if you’ve already gotten to that point you need to see your family physician.  But did you know that you can ward off a sinus infection?  When I went in to the doctor she told me that, since I tend to get an infection each spring, using a neti bottle could help prevent them.  Neti bottle (you can use a neti pot too, same thing) clears out your nasal passages and keeps things flowing.  It may seem extreme if you’ve never used one, but it does make you feel lots better.

Monica Bloom shares other healthy spring time tips in her Seasonal Bloom.  This is Kapha season, sticky and lubricating, and is the reason for much of the sinus-y gunk.  To keep things from clogging you up, Monica recommends steering clear of cold foods and opting for warm spicy foods instead.  She also suggests adding a few drops of eucalyptus to your shower if you suffer from allergies or cold.  We like Dr. Bronner’s Eucalyptus Soap.  Other beneficial aromatherapy scents for spring are citrus, bergamot, and rosemary.

Getting cleared up will have you feeling better and able to enjoy your spring.  Now don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.
