Where Can I Buy Organic Make Up?

A reader recently asked where she could find organic make up in stores.  In other words…Do you have to buy organic make up online?

The answer:  No.  There are lots of terrific healthy make up brands available in stores all across the US.

And just why is buying healthy make up so important.  Conventional make up brands commonly use junky ingredients in their products.  Synthetic colors and fragrance, petrolatum, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, and propylene glycol are just some of the harmful ingredients often found in mainstream make up products.  For more information on why you should avoid these ingredients, check out our Ingredients to Avoid list.

Make up sits on the skin all day, so those nasty chemicals have plenty of time to absorb and cause potential health risks.   Products made with natural plant oils, pure mineral color, and other natural ingredients are best for your skin and health.

Natural cosmetics can be found and purchased easily online.  If you would rather grab them at your local drugstore, take a look at the following list of top natural make up brands and follow the link to find out which stores carry them.  Be sure to plug in your own zip code for results near you.

If you purchase natural make up products offline, please share the details with us.  Now you know where to find organic make up in your area.  What about skin care, hair care, and body care?  The answer to those questions will be coming up in the weeks ahead.  Stay tuned for more!

I primarily use Tarte cosmetics and either purchase through their website or now at Ulta – really excited they’re carrying it now! Josie Maran has some great products too, which I find online or at Sephora.
