New Book :: 40 Days of Green Smoothies

green smoothie from 40 Days of Green Smoothies

Have you done the green smoothie thing?  Getting started with these healthy drinks can take some experimentation.  Fortunately, our very own Becky Striepe breaks it down for us in her brand new ebook, 40 Days of Green Smoothies.  Becky gives us everything from shopping lists to recipes to helpful tips, making going green easy and super do-able.

The point of drinking green smoothies is to get the green in your diet – easily, tastily, and healthfully.  Veggies can seem like the toughest food item to get enough of, and they are what we need the most.   Packed full of vital nutrients, protein and even calcium, this fibrous food group is essential.

My first venture with green smoothies was last year, and it came with pros and cons.  Pros:  getting in more of the green stuff, feeling great, getting to drink breakfast (or lunch…).  Cons:  buying fresh produce every few days, having some not-so-yummy outcomes, and same old every day.

If I’d had 40 Days of Green Smoothies back then, the experience would have been a lot different.  First off, I would have had a produce buying plan, which would have helped immensely.  Becky shares a list for the beginning of each week.  You purchase the items that last at the very beginning (flax meal, chia seeds), frozen fruit lasts because it is, well, frozen, and you just restock a few perishables at the beginning of each week.  Easy and affordable, not to mention efficient.

Then there are the recipes.  Becky provides you with a new flavor combo every day for 6 weeks, to get you going and keep things interesting.  Do you eat the same thing for breakfast every day?  Me too.  Wouldn’t it be fun to have something new each morning, especially something that seems like a treat?  I’m in! No more staring down the barrel of something that tastes vaguely of apple and significantly of kale.

Becky’s recipes include everything from cocoa to mango, all with that special green ingredient goodness.  My favorite is week #3 when we add fresh ginger.  And the recipes are all vegan.

Even kids will love these smoothies.  A green smoothie may scare them off, but one that tastes like chocolate banana or tropical smoothie – they’ll be all over it.

Becky has taken the guess work out of creating fabulous green smoothies.  Super yummy, budget-friendly, and oh so good for you.  Great for holiday gifting and New Year’s resolution-ing.  Get your copy of 40 Days of Green Smoothies for iPad today.
